If you're not aware of the "D800 left-sensor focus problem", you need to be. For quite some time in 2012 Nikon shipped a large number of cameras with sensor alignment issues. This appears to have stopped in the US with serial numbers higher than about
3055000. Cameras with numbers lower than that should be tested (see my article) and returned to Nikon for warranty repair if found to have the issue.
